South Lubec Beach at 20,000 Ft
US Geodetic Survey color infrared aerial photo of the cottage and beach
taken at 20,000 feet May 30, 1991. The tide is only partly out. The infrared
photography picks up the topography of the bottom in shallow water.
The beach extends to the south over a mile from the cottage, through the
South Lubec bird Wildlife Management Area, and is mostly surrounded by
water on both the east and the west. The "Sand Bar" extends from the
beach directly out into the ocean to the east, and is accessible to
walking all the way out to the end at low tide.
