Panoramic Views Experience the breathtaking beauty of coastal downeast Maine in our spectacular oceanfront cottage on the South Lubec beach. With panoramic ocean and island views, sea birds and seals, this Maine beachfront cottage will take you far away from your daily deadlines.

The cottage is a 3-bedroom renovated antique expanded-cape on the edge of six private acres and 330 feet of secluded beach. The kitchen and living room adjoin the large deck overlooking the beach and the ocean. All six rooms have ocean views. The grounds are mostly open, but set back and screened from the road and the sides by trees. Wild rose bushes and other flowers are plentiful when in season.

Spectacular Beach Front The cottage sits on a 12 foot grassy bluff, 75 feet from high tide and the sand beach, on the South Lubec Flats near Quoddy Head at the eastern tip of the US. A path down a grassy slope to the beach is easy to traverse. At high tide the sea reaches the outcroppings of large rocks directly in front of the cottage, and the beach to the south is always accessible for walking. The South Lubec Beach extends a mile down a narrow peninsula paralleling the shore, through the bird wildlife management area. At low tide the beach extends far out into the ocean, with a long exposed sand bar jutting out even farther, perpendicular to the shore. The water is normally calm and is perfect for canoes and kayaks, best launched behind the cottage near high tide, but is very cold for swimming.

Enjoy Meals at Water's Edge A fully equipped large modern kitchen and dining area overlook the ocean through two large picture windows. Kitchen facilities include a complete set of modern appliances: electric oven and flat-top stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The large wooden deck off the kitchen is outfitted with a picnic table and a grill for cooking fresh local seafood.

Comfortably Sleeps Six On the second floor are two large bedrooms and a large loft. A full-size living room and den span the front section of the cottage. The living room opens up onto the deck through sliding glass doors.

Keeping you in touch with civilization are cable television with VCR, telephone and an AM/FM stereo receiver for music and news. A NOAA weather radio also keeps you aware of the latest regional reports.

Or spend your time walking a few miles on the quiet, secluded beach, watching the seabirds and seals. Or take it all in — perhaps shared with a book from the library — while sitting on the deck, the beach or the long country swing under the shade of a tree overlooking the beach.

Convenient to Town The center of the village of Lubec is only two miles from the cottage. There are 2 grocery stores, gas stations, post office, auto parts/repair, library & internet access, a number of informal restaurants, other small shops, and the bridge to Campobello Island. The County Seat at Machias is 40 minutes away.

There is not much “night life” in Lubec, and no “tourist traps”. Just the calming sound of the sea and normally calm surf lapping at the beach, a distant Canadian lighthouse flashing at the cottage, and an occasional background of fog horns guiding the fishing boats to safety.
